Privacy Policy

Gro Play creates games and applications for children and families. Protecting the privacy of our players, particularly children, is very important to us.

We design our games to collect as little personal information as possible. We do not use players’ personal information for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking, and our children’s games do not use advertising identifiers such as Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or Google’s Android Advertising ID (AAID/GAID) for analytics or advertising purposes.

Analytics and diagnostics

What information is collected?

To understand how our games are used, improve gameplay, and find technical problems, some Gro Play games use analytics and diagnostic services provided by:

• Google Firebase Analytics
• Google Firebase Crashlytics
• Unity Analytics
• Unity Diagnostics

Not every Gro Play game uses all of these services.

Depending on the game and service, the following types of information may be processed:

• Device type and model
• Operating system and operating system version
• Game and application version
• Language and approximate country or region
• App launches and play-session information
• Length of play sessions
• Gameplay events, such as levels played, goals achieved, features used and general game progress
• Technical information about errors and crashes
• Crash stack traces and information about the state of the game and device when an error occurred
• App-specific or installation-specific identifiers generated by the analytics or diagnostic service

These app- or installation-specific identifiers are technical identifiers used to distinguish installations or sessions. They are not advertising identifiers and we do not use them to identify a player by name or to track players across unrelated apps or websites.

Through our analytics and diagnostic systems, we do not intentionally collect information such as a player’s name, email address, telephone number, contacts, photographs or precise location.

We do not use IDFA or Android Advertising ID for these purposes.

Network information such as an IP address may be processed by our service providers when a device communicates with their servers. For example, this may be used to determine an approximate country or region or to provide and secure the service.

Why we collect this information

We use analytics information to:

• understand how our games are used in general;
• determine which parts of our games work well and which could be improved;
• improve gameplay and usability;
• improve performance and compatibility across different devices; and
• identify technical problems.

We use diagnostic and crash information to:

• detect crashes and errors;
• investigate the causes of technical problems;
• improve the stability, security and reliability of our games.

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles of children or to track players across other companies’ apps or websites.

Service providers

We use Google/Firebase and Unity as service providers for analytics and technical diagnostics. Information sent to these services is processed according to our configuration of those services and their applicable data-processing terms.

We do not sell analytics or diagnostic information.

We do not provide analytics or diagnostic information to third parties for targeted advertising.

Our service providers and their subprocessors may process information in countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required by applicable data-protection law, appropriate safeguards for such transfers are used, such as adequacy decisions or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data retention

We retain information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Retention periods differ between the services we use and may also depend on our configuration of those services. We configure retention periods with the aim of minimizing the amount of information retained, particularly for games intended for children.

Aggregated statistics that no longer relate to an identifiable device or individual may be retained for longer periods.

Children’s privacy

Many Gro Play games are specifically designed for children.

We aim to minimize the information collected from children and do not use children’s personal information for behavioral advertising, targeted advertising or cross-service profiling.

Our analytics and diagnostic services are used solely to operate, maintain, understand and improve our games and to identify and resolve technical problems.

Where applicable law requires parental consent before information relating to a child may be collected or processed, we obtain the required consent or do not perform that processing.

We comply with applicable children’s privacy requirements, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and applicable European data-protection legislation.

User accounts

Some Gro Play games allow a user or family to create an account. Accounts may be used, for example, to synchronize game progress between devices or allow members of a family to use the same game account.

For these games, we collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide the account functionality.

Account information is kept separate from analytics information unless linking the information is necessary to provide a feature clearly described to the user.

We do not use account information for targeted advertising.

Legal basis for processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, Gro Play processes personal data only when we have a legal basis for doing so.

Depending on the type of processing and applicable law, this may include:

• providing a service or account requested by the user;
• our legitimate interest in maintaining the security, stability and technical operation of our games;
• our legitimate interest in improving our games, where this interest is not overridden by the rights and interests of the user; or
• consent, including parental consent where required by law.

We take particular care when assessing the processing of information relating to children.

Data security

Gro Play uses appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or loss.

Access to information is limited to people who need it to perform their work, and our service providers are required to protect information in accordance with applicable agreements and data-protection requirements.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• request access to personal data we hold about you;
• request correction of inaccurate information;
• request deletion of personal data;
• request restriction of certain processing;
• object to certain processing;
• receive certain information in a portable format; and
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Because analytics and diagnostic information is generally not connected to a name or email address, we may not always be able to associate a particular analytics record with a specific person. We will not collect additional personal information solely for the purpose of identifying someone making a privacy request.

For account-based games, we can normally identify account information using the relevant account details.

Users in the European Economic Area also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority. In Sweden, the supervisory authority is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).

Account deletion

If you have an account in one of our games and would like the account and associated information deleted, contact us at privacy@groplay.com.

We may ask for information necessary to verify the account before processing a deletion request.

Data controller

The Gro Play company responsible for the game is the data controller for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.
